Common problems and situations

  • Aluminum doors or hatches not sealed-- Cover doors with Heavy Duty Mat allowing gasses to be forced through the Wager Scrubber (Commonly known as a 3/4" stall Mat) A mat is preferred for easy access.

  • New Construction Stations -- Wager recommends sealed hatch doors

NOTE: Airflow numbers are vital in determining the size of the scrubber required for odor control. If the volume of air is too strong, the gases will not have enough residence time in the media to scrub it effectively.

Gravity Sewer Sizing Inquiry

Common problem situations

Watertight System (produces higher PPM of H2S gas). Scrubbers should be sized up with additional media to handle the higher exiting gases.

Rain or flood events, especially on a downhill line can create much higher airlows (CFM). This situation can sometimes cause wastewater to overflow out of the vent. In downhill situations, a larger scrubber may be needed. Another solution to prevent overflow into the scrubber is using a Wager vent check valve. Please see Wager's 1300 series Check Valve.

Turbulent air that is caused by a dramatic drop in the line or in a 45-90 degree turn in the piping can create the need for a larger scrubber to handle the excessive CFM (airflow)
