Tried PDR for hail damage — is it actually worth it or just a shortcut?
My car picked up a bunch of small dents after a hailstorm last month. A friend mentioned paintless dent repair as an option. Never used it before. Is it a reliable method or does it depend heavily on the shop doing it?

Had a similar situation with door dings and a couple of shallow dents from a shopping cart. I was not sure whether PDR was a legitimate fix or just a cheaper workaround so I did some reading before choosing anything. Found the link useful for understanding what the process actually involves and what kinds of damage it is suitable for. From what I gathered the method works by reshaping the panel from the inside using specialized tools which means the original factory paint stays untouched throughout. No fillers no sanding no repainting involved. That part mattered to me because I wanted to keep the car as close to its original condition as possible. The main thing to check is whether the dents are shallow enough and whether the paint has not cracked since PDR does not work well on damage where the surface is already compromised. The technician should assess that before starting anything. In my case the result was clean and the surface looked even again without any visible signs of repair. It also took less time than a conventional body shop job would have.
